Art Away: Santa Fe2022-11-09T03:26:52+00:00

Art-Away : Santa Fe

June 12-18, 2023 (ages 12-16)

$2100(includes housing, admission fees, meals, and transportation between Boulder and Santa Fe and around the Santa Fe area)

Page began bringing small groups of her art students to Santa Fe in 2018.  Each trip is unique and emphasizes a particular theme. This summer’s trip focuses on expressive painting and drawing. The days will focus around art making, with visits to select galleries and museums designed to inspire our art work.

Our airbnb is spacious and beautiful. It is located in Tesuque (10 minutes outside of Santa Fe) with views of 3 mountain ranges. There is room to make art outdoors (on 20 acres of property) and indoors.  When we are not making or looking at art, we will enjoy delicious home cooked meals, play games, watch  movies and enjoy each other’s company. It’s an intensive week, but a playful one too. Art-Away trips are all about creativity, friendship and new experiences!

My goal for every Art-Away trip is to

  • expose students to both contemporary and traditional art
  • teach about the creative thought process and techniques of different artists.
  • show that art grows out of our individual experiences and personalities, and that we can express our unique selves in a way that connects us to each other.

We use photography, sketch books, even sound recordings to find direct and personal connections to what we see and experience throughout the week. As each student collects their own inspirations they will explore ways to assemble them into a final piece of art. What they come up with is wide open and may only be the start of a more extensive piece that they complete later (there is only so much time in a week!). Past projects have included a series of photographs, collage, painting, a comic book, installation. Collaboration is encouraged!

Limited to 8 students

Traveling with Page allows students to be artists in the world of art that can only serve to inspire them to go further, to use their talents to seek that place they can call their own. Thank you, Page!

As someone who is trying to figure out their future after high school, spending time in an art school or with people who work every day in art for their career was really interesting and helped me gain a new perspective on how art can impact me and my life.

Page is an artist, teacher and above all, someone who is genuinely passionate about sharing her brilliance with our community’s youth. This kind of rare combination is an amazing gift to our community and not to be missed!
