Santa Fe – Making Connections

Highlights of the Santa Fe art excursion will include:
  • Visits, many with guided tours, to museums and galleries
  • Visits to private artist studios
  • Time to create art
  • Time to explore Santa Fe Plaza (the city’s historic central square)
  • Stay in private home with healthy, home-cooked meals
Next summer join Page for a week of art exploration in Santa Fe! Limited to 8 students, we will immerse ourselves in the rich art world of this special, historic and art-filled city. We will stay in a private home with home-cooked meals and spend the days visiting art galleries, museums, private art studios and creating our own artwork inspired by all we see.

Paired museum/gallery experiences emphasize connections between traditional and contemporary art:

  • ​Two New Mexican Painters: O’Keefe and Bergman (O’Keefe Museum and Center for Contemporary Art)
  • Native American Art (Museum of Indian Arts and Culture and Museum of Contemporary Native Arts)
  • Crafts: (Folk Art Museum and Tansey Contemporary Gallery)
  • Installation Art: (Site Santa Fe and Meow Wolf)
  • Meet 9am in Boulder and drive to Santa Fe. Arrive by 5:00 pm. Settle in and have dinner in our new Santa Fe home-away-from-home.
  • The Center for Contemporary Art (Ciel Berman exhibit)
  • Explore Indian market at Santa Fe Square home early
  • Studio time, dinner at home and board games
  • O’Keefe Museum and visit Loretto Chapel
  • Lunch at home and down time
  • Late afternoon go to Meow Wolf and have dinner out at Tortilla Flats
  • Morning at home with guided and open studio time
  • Afternoon visit Folk Art Museum
  • Return to Meow Wolf to meet and talk with one of the artists
  • Home for dinner, video on Frank Buffalo Hyde
  • Artist talk and tour of IAIA (Institute of American Indian Arts)
  • Museum of Indian Arts & Culture (Frank Buffalo Hyde)
  • Dinner at home and movie
  • Morning studio time
  • Afternoon explore galleries on and around Canyon Road
  • Dinner at home, free time to read, work in sketchbooks, play board games
  • Site Santa Fe – private tour of “Brave New World” Installation
  • Studio visit: Deeda Hull, book artist
  • Dinner at home
  • Drive back to Boulder. Home by 4:30pm
